Yisrael's new household chore is taking out the garbage. Erev Shabbos, he saw a (small) bag of garbage, so he started putting on his coat, and opened the door. I asked him where he was going, and he told me frankly, "I'm going to take out the garbage", which he did! The dumpster is pretty close, but we live about 1 1/2 flights down from the street- he carried it up, put it in the dumpster (I don't know how he was able to reach), and came back home all by himself. He was so PROUD!
This morning, he saw another garbage bag- this one was heavier (diapers!) but he insisted on taking it himself. It took him about 5 minutes to get up the steps, so I came to help him- what would the neighbors think, seeing a little three-year-old shleping a heavy bag of garbage!?
I guess I'll have to start preparing some small, light bags of garbage especially for him...we don't want him to lose his good work ethic!
