No matter what I offer Yisrael to eat, he ALWAYS wants "somethin' else". It gets quite aggravating at times, because he'll complain that he's hungry, and I'll offer him half a dozen things, but he keeps refusing, saying he wants the elusive "somethin' else"!
One day I came to pick him up from Cheder, and he had fallen asleep on the bench while he was waiting. I picked him up, and while he was still half asleep, he tells me- "Mommy, I'm hungry- I want to eat somethin' else!"
Well yesterday we solved the "something else" mystery.
He's been learning about Brachos in Cheder, and he's been bringing home lots of coloring sheets with picture of food on them. Well Yisrael came over to me, with a picture of cake, and says to me proudly, "Look Mommy, I made somethin' else in Cheder!"

Slicha!
Often, when I go to pick Yisrael up from Cheder, the street is crowded with Bais Yaakov girls (there are two different girls schools right next to the cheder, which are all up the block from us). It's like a sea of blue!
Well, any of you who have seen my stroller can imagine why it must be hard to get thru the crowds (its pretty wide!) Often, the girls are standing around talking, or playing jumprope, and I have to say "Slicha" a few times before they move aside so I can get past them.
Well on Erev Shabbos, when I was walking home with the kids, I heard a cute little voice from the stroller, saying "Slicha" every time we came to another crowd of girls- Bruria is very proud of her new word!

Happy Purim Katan!
Anything to avoid bedtime
Every night, Yisrael tries to dream up another tactic to avoid bedtime.
Here's what he came up with last night:
Mommy: Okay, Yisrael, its really getting late, please stay in your bed and go shloofy. No more coming downstairs.
Yisrael: (in a soft voice) Mommy, I is sick.
Mommy: Really?
Yisrael: (getting more confident) I have a fever on my keppy.
Mommy: Oh no! Then you'd better go shloofy in your bed right now so that you get better!
Yisrael: Sick boys need to be on the couch.
Mommy: No, sweetie, sick boys need to stay in their beds and sleep!
Yisrael: I is all better! Now I can stay up later!

We start 'em young in this house!
Yisrael's new household chore is taking out the garbage. Erev Shabbos, he saw a (small) bag of garbage, so he started putting on his coat, and opened the door. I asked him where he was going, and he told me frankly, "I'm going to take out the garbage", which he did! The dumpster is pretty close, but we live about 1 1/2 flights down from the street- he carried it up, put it in the dumpster (I don't know how he was able to reach), and came back home all by himself. He was so PROUD!
This morning, he saw another garbage bag- this one was heavier (diapers!) but he insisted on taking it himself. It took him about 5 minutes to get up the steps, so I came to help him- what would the neighbors think, seeing a little three-year-old shleping a heavy bag of garbage!?
I guess I'll have to start preparing some small, light bags of garbage especially for him...we don't want him to lose his good work ethic!

Azriel Shraga babbling
Azriel Shraga was babbling away the other day by supper, but of course as soon as I pulled out the camera, he stopped (he takes after his big brother!) Well, here's whatever I was able to shoot, plus Yisrael and Bruria eating supper.
"Keep out of the reach of children"
Does such a place exist?
Not in the Yunger home! We keep the candy in the top cabinet in the kitchen- high enough that I even need a stool to reach it! But my kids are quite innovative- "when there's a will, there's a way!"- they push a chair next to the counter, then put a stool or kid chair on the counter, and climb up! Here's a pic of Bruria trying to scurry away as fast as she can, since she sees Mommy coming to stop her!

2 sick babies + 1 exhausted Mama = 1 ignored blog
Need I say any more?
Hopefully everyone will have a Refuah Shelaima soon and then I'll get back into it...

Making a Kiddush Hashem
Yisrael must be learning about making a Kiddush Hashem in cheder...but seems that he got a little confused (maybe because of the the Ivrit?)- today he was playing with legos, and he came up to me holding a big tower, and said, "Look Mommy- I made a really big Kiddush Hashem!" I guess I'll have to sit down with him and explain what a Kiddush Hashem really is...although its not such an easy concept to explain to a three-year-old, even in their mother tongue!
