There was a lovely family,
With but one little girl,
Among sons numbering three.
Well this girl's mother,
With her hair she would play
Braids, pigtails or curls,
A different style every day.
This mother was very picky-
Doing the hair took quite long,
But often she’d re-do it,
Since it just looked all wrong.
Thought the mother to herself,
As she did her daughter’s hair,
Were I to have more daughters-
This would be an all day affair!
Well the very next day,
Everything did change,
When her dear little daughter,
Found a scissor in reaching range.
The girl chopped off her hair-
Her styling skills were poor,
She left hairs of all lengths,
Strewn across the bathroom floor.
She cut herself some uneven bangs,
Halfway around her head,
Instead of her long, lovely locks,
She had a zig-zag look instead.
The poor mother was distraught-
What could she possibly do?
There was no doubt about it-
Her styling days were through!
Well the mother will have to learn,
Not to always be so vain,
(Or at least for the time being,
Until the hair grows back again!)

Oh, my goodness!!
Well, sidebangs are in style now, you know...
And your poem is quite exciting!
WEll, what can I say
Besides for OY VEY!
But it will grow back,
Aren't we happy about that.
I've said it before,
& I'll say it once more
"Like Mother, Like Daughter"
It seems her genes taught her!
Your story is quite funny,
Your poem quite punny,
The pictures alarming,
& your daughter still charming!
hard to comment at this point, because I am speechless!
but really nice poetic skills yael and ruthie! i am impressed!
You surely knew - I would answer in rhyme,
The problem for me was to find the time.
This poetic exchange, it really must mean
That you’ve inherited Opa’s and my genes!
Now, getting to Bruria, the star of this non-prose,
Yael, just be happy that she didn’t cut off her nose!
The thing about hair is that it will grow back,
And layers are in, have you thought of that?
Your sister, the poet, is quite good a beautician,
And the way things look, Bruria can pose competition!
The fact of the matter is she really looks cute,
And that is a fact no one can dispute!
So pick up those scissors and fix her hair right,
On the Dynasty post a new picture –behold such a sight!
And, when the haircut is done, please let me preach-
Put those useful scissors way out of reach!
As long as I’m writing where many will see-
I offer a brocha to the entire Yiddishe people, our family:
May this year be one of Gezunt, Nachas, Shalom, and Brocha,
Simcha, Mitzvos, Chesed, Learning, and also Parnossa.
A year of Geulah in which we will all celebrate
Mashiach’s arrival at Yerushalyim’s gate.
With Love, Mommy-Bubbie Minkus

Well Bruria is not alone. Earlier in the summer Hadassa Miriam decided she wanted side bangs like her big sisters so she cut herself some and then proudly showed them off. And I have news for you, it doesn't end there. Even my Shiffy enjoys cutting her own and her sisters' hair. Oy!
If Bruria is any bit of the mazik'le that her Lawndalian friend is, then you better watch out. Just today Hadassala was trying to climb up the dresser (to get to the top of course) and it toppled over. B'h she is fine, but that was scary.
One more thing: I think it's great that you do this blog. A few years down the line when you check it out you will really enjoy the memories!
