A Wet and Happy Purim!

We had a really lovely Purim, B"H. Despite all the rain (B"H its been pouring for days now!) we still managed to have a wonderful time. We weren't able to run around delivering so many Mishloach Manos but we still had a lot of Simchas Purim. Yisrael and Bruria both sat through Megillah (I still can't believe I let Bruria go!!) and our Seuda was really wonderful. The only problem is that since it was such a wet and busy day, I barely had a chance to get pictures!!! (Its a good thing I dressed the kids up a week ago so I could take pictures to send out!)

Here's our cuties, all dressed up (a week ago!)
Aren't they precious?

Bruria and Yisrael sharing an umbrella on the way home from our Seuda

The "swimming pool" in our backyard from all the rain-
I stuck a ruler in and it was about an inch and a half deep!

How's this for a wacky Purim site?
A palm tree alongside a pile of hail- not something you see everyday!

Airplane fun

Yisrael came home one day from Cheder, and wanted to show off a new skill he had learned- how to make a מטוס קרב (which literally means fighter plane, but in this case he means a paper airplane)! Since then, he has been folding up every paper he can get his hands on- and his aerodynamic skills are vastly improving (I've got to make sure to put all my bills, receipts, etc. in a safe place or else they're destined to be flying around the living room!)

Its funny because making paper airplanes is such a simple way to have fun- but I never thought of teaching him how (thanks to whoever did, since its kept him busy for many an afternoon!)

Today I gave Yisrael an envelope that had a window- and he was thrilled! He cut open the envelope, folded it into an airplane, and then proceeded to cut up little 'people' to stick inside the window, so you could see them! He was thrilled with his creation, and I must say that I was quite impressed with his creativity!

Models of the Mishkan

After learning about פרשת תרומה in Cheder, Yisrael has been very busy building models of the כלים in the משכן. He is very creative and has has a great imagination so he was able to build some really good ones. And he built them without even looking at a picture- he just remembered the pictures that his Rebbi had shown him in class! Pretty impressive, huh?

Caught Red-Handed

(well, chocolate-handed, actually!)

I was making Hamantaschen with the kids- we filled them with chocolate, caramel and jelly (yum!) when I realized that Azriel Shraga was too quiet...he had snuck away from the table, and had his hands in the chocolate spread! He was so proud of himself...and his siblings were very upset that they hadn't thought of it!

Happy Rosh Chodesh Adar!

Here in Israel on Rosh Chodesh Adar, the teachers dress up their students and they come home wearing adorable costumes.

Yesterday, Bruria came home dressed as the Brachos Queen - they just finished a unit on Brachos, so they had a big Brachos party to celebrate, and each of them got to dress up as well! The cape has a picture of each Bracha, which the girls colored/decorated themselves. It is really something!

Azriel Shraga's Morah had a really cute outfit, depicting "Mazal Adar Dagim" with a matching hat, vest and tie- which of course he refused to wear! So sorry, no picture of that!

Here's what the kids came home with today- not as glamorous as what they came wearing on the first day of Rosh Chodesh, although still quite adorable!

Yungers in Action: On the move!

Naftali has found a great (but noisy!) way to walk all over the house, without ever having to worry about falling! He LOVES it!

New Freezer = Fun for all ages

After much research and deliberation, I finally bought a spare freezer- its been something I've wanted for a long time, and I finally did it!

So while I was busy cooking up a storm, stocking up the freezer with all types of goodies, the kids where busy playing with the crate that it came in....and they had quite a blast!

Yungers in Action: Naftali's balancing act!

Over Shabbos, Naftali finally discovered that he can stand without holding on- and he is VERY proud of himself. He crawls over to me, begs me to stand him up, and then calls everyone's attention to look at him and give him applause- he LOVES the attention! And as soon as he falls down, he crawls over to me and asks me to stand him up again!

Here's a few clips of him doing his 'balancing act'- in one, he even took a step (I don't think he meant to) - Enjoy!

An afternoon in the park

B"H its been really rainy lately, but that means that we've been cooped up indoors a lot (the Kinneret went up about a meter in the last two months!- but we still need more rain). It stopped raining on Friday, so today I figured that the park would be dry enough- so off we went! It was still very cold, but at least we were able to get some nice fresh air outdoors! The kids had NO interest in leaving the park, but once the sun started setting, it got even chillier so I had to shlep them home! (with promises to buy a treat on our way!)
