Mah Nishtana: Sneak Preview

For those of you who won't be joining us for the Seder (which I think is pretty much everyone ), here's a sneak preview of the kids singing מה נשתנה!
(of course, Yisrael is being his usual silly self!)

How to make Kosher L'Pesach cookies

I was baking oatmeal raisin cookies with the kids yesterday (gotta finish all that chometz off before Pesach!) and Yisrael said to me, "Mommy, make the cookies really fast!"

I responded, "I am making them as fast as I can!"

To which Yisrael said, "Make them faster, Mommy- don't be so slow!"

I couldn't understand his urgency. "I AM making them fast! Soon they will come out of the oven and then we can eat them!"

"But Mommy, make them faster!" he insisted.

I was starting to get frustrated with him...until I realized what he was thinking- we've been talking about Matzah baking, and how the Matzah is baked very fast so that it won't turn into Chametz....

Yisrael was very excited about his brilliant idea, and I couldn't quite explain to him why we still couldn't eat oatmeal cookies on Pesach even if we DID make them fast!

Shmoozy Naftali

Naftali is starting to do a lot of "talking" (guess that means he's really part of the family, huh?!)

Yisrael the Matzah baker

Today, Yisrael made a bunch of matzos with his Clics. He told me "Mommy, I have to finish making the matzos very fast so that they don't turn into chametz!" Then he put all of his matzos into a special box. He told me we should put it away carefully so that no chametz will get on them.

He then put them on his shoulder, and starting walking around, saying, (in Hebrew), "This is how our forefathers came out of Mitzrayim..."

I'm glad to hear that at least someone in our family is thinking about Pesach...(I think that's my cue to stop blogging and to start getting stuff done around here!)

Finally, a new header image!

Yes, I know, we've been long overdue for a new header image (don't remember the old one?) but with four kids ka"h, its IMPOSSIBLE to get them all awake/clean/happy/SMILING all at one time!

So, you see what I finally did!

Toothpaste to the rescue!

We had a hectic morning, and when I wasn't looking, Bruria got her hands on a permanent marker....and of all things, guess where she decided to color? My computer screen!!! (which belongs to my boss, not me- YIKES!)

Well, B"H for Google, because as soon as I got all the kids off to school, I went and typed in "remove permanent marker computer screen"- and found a great thread where dozens of people wrote in how they used toothpaste to remove the marker from their monitor (I guess I'm not the only one with kids who like to color on computers)- and supposedly, they said it worked like a charm.

Well, B"H it did:

(Now I take no responsiblity for any of you out there who want to try it out...the moral of the story is to keep those markers away from your kids....not to have fun shmearing toothpaste all over your monitor!)

All dressed up for Purim!

My how they've grown!

I was looking through my old pictures and videos of the kids, and found this really cute one of Yisrael from last year:

So I decided to do the same thing this year, to compare how much he and Bruria have grown in the past year (I was almost going to put red PJ's on Yisrael and purple ones on Bruria, but I then I figured that was TOO much!)

Isn't it amazing how much they grew in one year?!

Pizza on wheels

For lunch one day, we made homemade pizza. I gave each kid a ball of dough and they got to roll it out themselves- (Of course Azriel Shraga ate half of his dough while it was still raw!) Bruria made her pizza in a standard circular shape, but Yisrael decided to get creative...he made a car! (And yes, he did it all by himself!)

Yisrael the fisherman!

On Rosh Chodesh Adar, all the kids come home from school dressed up (their Morahs must stay up half the night before, making all those costumes!). This year, Yisrael came home dressed up as a fisherman!

(Bruria was home with chickenpox, so no pictures of her...)

Long time no write!

Wow- I can't believe its been almost a MONTH since I blogged...things have been so busy here, I've barely had a moment to breathe. I guess that between the kids getting chicken pox, and all the Purim madness (I was VERY involved in a Mishloach Manos fundraiser for Bentzi's yeshiva), I basically ignored my blog.

Not that I really have much time now either, but I guess I'd better devote a few minutes now, before I move ahead full force into (gasp!) Pesach cleaning!
